Terms of service
The agreement for using Porchlight, in plain language.
These terms are an agreement between you and 1001 Toolbox, operated by Ehtesham Ali (“we”, “us”), for using Porchlight. By creating an account or using Porchlight you accept them. If you use Porchlight for a company or organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms for it, and “you” means that organisation.
The service
Porchlight gives websites a live chat widget, AI answers, a shared inbox, a help desk with email mailboxes, help centres and related tools. We keep improving it, so features may change. If we remove something important from a paid plan, we will tell you in advance.
Accounts
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date. You must be at least 16, and old enough to enter a contract where you live.
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for the people you invite to your workspace.
- The workspace owner controls the workspace, its billing and its data.
Acceptable use
Do not use Porchlight to:
- break the law, or infringe anyone’s rights, including privacy and intellectual property;
- send spam or unsolicited bulk messages, or run phishing or scams;
- harass, threaten or deceive people, or impersonate someone else;
- upload malware, or probe, overload or disrupt Porchlight or other people’s systems;
- get around plan limits or security controls, or resell Porchlight without our written agreement;
- collect personal data without a lawful basis, or collect payment card details or passwords through chat.
You are responsible for telling the visitors of your website that you use a chat service, in your own privacy notice.
Your data
You own the content you and your visitors put into Porchlight. You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to provide Porchlight to you. We act as your processor, as our privacy policy describes. You are responsible for having the right to collect the data you put in. You can export your data and delete your workspace at any time.
AI features
AI answers are optional and off until you turn them on. They are generated from your sources and can still be wrong or incomplete. Review what the AI is allowed to answer, and do not rely on it for legal, medical, financial or safety advice. You remain responsible for the answers your website gives.
Plans and billing
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
- Plans. Porchlight has a Free plan and paid plans (Pro at US$19 and Business at US$79 per workspace per month, or 10 times the monthly price per year). Current prices and limits are on our pricing section. The price shown at Paddle’s checkout, including any tax and currency conversion, is the one you pay.
- Automatic renewal. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period, and Paddle charges your payment method, until you cancel.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time from the billing page in your dashboard. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then the workspace moves to Free.
- Changing plans. Upgrades start straight away and Paddle charges the prorated difference. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current period.
- Taxes. Paddle calculates, collects and pays sales tax and VAT where they apply.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, your plan keeps working for 14 days while you update your payment method. After that the workspace moves to Free; nothing is deleted.
- Trials. A free Business trial lasts 14 days and needs no card. When it ends the workspace moves to Free unless you choose a paid plan.
- Price changes. We will tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your renewal.
- Refunds follow our refund policy. Paddle’s Paddle’s buyer terms also apply to your purchase.
The Free plan
The Free plan is free for as long as you like, within the limits shown on the pricing section (such as one site and a monthly allowance of AI replies). We may change Free plan limits, and will give notice before a change reduces what you already use.
Availability and support
We work to keep Porchlight available and fast, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. There is no service level agreement (SLA) on the Free plan, and none on paid plans unless we agree one with you in writing. We may briefly interrupt the service for maintenance, and will try to do so at quiet times. Support is by email at hello@1001toolbox.com.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Porchlight and delete your workspace at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other users or the service at risk, or is used unlawfully. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem or export your data. After a workspace is closed, its data is deleted as our privacy policy describes.
Third-party services
Porchlight can connect to services you choose, such as email providers, Slack or webhooks. Their own terms apply to them, and we are not responsible for how they work.
Disclaimers
Porchlight is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties not stated in these terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim about Porchlight is limited to the amount you paid us for Porchlight in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or the rights consumers have under the law of their country.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, email workspace owners at least 14 days before they apply. If you keep using Porchlight after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can cancel before they take effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have jurisdiction over any dispute, except where the law of your country gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
